Oscillate Audio

License

Version 1.5 · 14 October 2026

Plain version first: make music with it, release the music, keep the money. The plug-ins, devices and files are for you — do not pass them, or your serial, on to anyone else. Everything below says the same thing in more careful words.

1. What this covers

Everything you download from oscillateaudio.com, free or paid: audio plug-ins (AU, VST®3 and standalone applications), Max for Live devices, presets, manuals and sound files. The seller of every paid product is our online reseller Link, a Stripe company (see the terms); this licence is between you and Oscillate Audio (Sarah Johnston), which holds the rights to the products.

2. What you get

A non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual licence for one person to install and use the product. You do not become the owner of the software or the content; all rights remain with Oscillate Audio. A paid licence is unlocked with a serial number tied to the email address you used at checkout. Activate once with the serial from your purchase email; until then a plug-in passes your audio through unprocessed. Unlocking works offline and needs no account.

3. Where you may install it

On every computer you personally work on — studio, laptop, stage. Keep your serial to yourself; it identifies your purchase.

4. What you make is yours

No royalty is due, no credit is required, and you do not need to tell us.

5. What you may not do

6. Max for Live devices

Max for Live devices are open patches by nature. Use them in as many of your own Live sets as you like, but do not republish or distribute a device, modified or not. If you build something on top of one of ours and want to share it, write to us first — the answer is usually yes.

7. Free versions

Free products and free versions are covered by the same licence, without payment. Please point people to our website rather than passing the files on.

8. Passing a licence on

If you stop using a product, you may hand your licence to one other person. Write to [email protected] and we move the serial to their address; yours stops working.

9. Third-party components

Our plug-ins contain open-source components written by others (for example the VST 3 SDK, the Audio Unit SDK, FLAC and Ogg Vorbis decoders and the IBM Plex fonts), and CAIRN contains impulse responses from the OpenAIR library. Each of these stays under its own licence, listed on the credits page and in the Licenses folder of every download. Nothing in this licence restricts the rights those licences give you. In particular, the processed OpenAIR impulse responses included with CAIRN are licensed to you under CC BY 4.0 and may be used and shared under those terms.

10. Companies and teams

One licence covers one person. If several people at a studio or company use a product, please buy one licence per person. For larger teams write to [email protected] and we will work something out.

11. Updates

All future updates to a product you have are included at no additional cost for as long as we offer that product — no subscription, no upgrade fees, whatever the version number. A separate successor product with a new name is not an update. Updates are covered by this same licence. The plug-ins check at most once a day whether a newer version exists; you can switch that notice off in the plug-in. A paid plug-in then still asks at most once a week, only to learn whether its licence was refunded. What the check sends is described in the privacy notice.

12. Defects and liability

Each product does what its product page and manual describe, on the systems listed there. If it does not, we fix it or refund you, and as a consumer you keep all your statutory rights for digital products. Liability is set out in the terms of sale: unlimited for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health and under product liability law, and limited for slight negligence only as described there.

13. Ending the licence

If you breach these terms, the licence ends. Music you released before that point stays unaffected — we are not going to come after your discography.
